Well, hello there!

Mallory Kate is a Reno-based visual artist, teaching artist, and founder of Art or Die, a long-term creative platform centered on making as survival, honesty, and necessity rather than polish or performance. She works across painting, sculpture, and installation, often using portraiture, place, and lived experience as structural material.
Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, Mallory holds a BA in Painting from the University of Nevada, Reno and has been active in the Northern Nevada arts community for over two decades. Her work is shaped by community involvement, teaching, and collaboration, including early formative work with The Salvagery Arts Collective and ongoing work as a teaching artist with Arts for All Nevada.
She is currently developing Reno Tarot, a 12+ year visual art project reimagining the tarot through real people, regional landscapes, and lived experience rooted in Reno and Northern Nevada. The project has recently been awarded grant funding from the Nevada Arts Council in support of its continued development.
Mallory lives and works in Reno. She is also a mother, which informs her work, her pace, and her refusal to separate art from real life.
