The Compass
The organizing structure of The Meeting is a compass—a floor installation that guided visitors through the 2023 Savage Mystic exhibition and continues to serve as a conceptual map for the project as a whole. The compass is built from the Vesica Piscis shape, oriented to true north, and divided into four quadrants. Each quadrant corresponds to an archetype, a cardinal direction, a value, and a stage in what Mallory calls “the journey of a thought.”

That journey unfolds as:
I am not → I don’t → I can’t → I won’t → I should → I could → I will → I do → I am
The cycle then repeats.
Each pair of statements (e.g., “I do” / “I don’t”) anchors one archetype’s light and shadow.
The four archetypes were developed because the existing Jungian and feminine archetype frameworks felt, in the artists’ words, “too male, too binary, too cringe.” Rather than critique from the outside, Mallory and Lyndsey built their own scaffold, rooted in lived experience, dream work, nervous system research, and the specific iconography of Reno.
